Would you consider helping us spread the word about our program? Are you interested in making it possible for us to assist additional people? One way to accomplish this is for you to help share the word about our program. You can follow us on Facebook and share our posts, write about our program on any blogs or chat rooms where you interact with others in your community. We also have postcards and flyers we can provide for you to post anywhere you have permission, such as doctors’ offices, pharmacies, and community meeting spaces. How to Pack Insulin Test Strips Meters Lancets and More!
Donation Packing Guide
Thank you for your interest in supporting Insulin for Life USA. Most donations are not temperature sensitive. However, while packing insulin the key goal is to take precautions to protect the insulin from heat. There are a variety of ways this can be accomplished:
Keep insulin refrigerated until shipping the package. When shipping, use of a frozen reusable gel refrigerant is necessary. The insulin and frozen pack should be placed inside either a Styrofoam container or thermal insulated bag (sample images below).
If you don’t have access to either a Styrofoam cooler or insulated bag there is an alternative. We recommend placing the insulin in a zip closure bag, then wrap the bagged insulin and gel pack together inside a sheet of bubble wrap to insulate the items from heat. Secure the bubble wrap tightly around the items and place them inside your shipping box.
When the insulin is being sent, the shipping time should be no more than two days. Avoid sending donations containing insulin over the weekend which will slow the delivery time.
Remember to place your name and address on a paper inside of the package. Placing your return information inside of the package helps to assure that a receipt acknowledging your tax-deductible donation will successfully be mailed to the proper address.
Our donor privacy is important, as such we remove all prescription labels upon receipt. By doing so the packaging remains intact while the identity of the donor and related healthcare professionals are protected.
